Mark, Ruhan, Ulla & Trudi

We held the Div 9 final on Sunday, July 5th, as visitors Wellington took on the CURTC 4 NL team. 1st match up was Ulla Petti v Mark Harris owe 1/4 15 as Mark was under 40 handicap. Ulla managed to pull back from 5/2 to 5/5 but then Mark aggravated his Tennis elbow and Ulla was then able to win the next 2 sets 6/3 6/3. It was decided to play the 2nd singles rather than doubles so that the doubles would only be played if it counted. Ruhan Du Plooy played Trudi Machin and, despite a 5 point difference, Ruhan managed to get 4/4 in the 2nd set before Trudi managed to pull away 6/4. So it was all down to the doubles, it was looking good for Cambridge as they were 4/1 and then 5/4 up but Mark didn’t seem unduly hampered & Trudi then managed to play very solidly top allow Wellington to win the doubles 8/5 and the final 2/1 .
