The CURTC 50-59 Category tournament was held on Sunday 8th February 2015. 8 entrants were separated into two groups, with each being dominated by a Jeremy.

In Group A Jeremy Davidson took top place by beating all his opponents while in Group B Jeremy Fairbrother did the same. Runner-up spot in Group A went to Derrick Wells, while in Group B Tom Hartley earned a place in the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final Jeremy Fairbrother ran out of steam and fell to Derrick Wells by a margin of 6-1. In the second semi-final Jeremy Davidson eased to a 4-0 lead before Tom pulled back three games in succession. Jeremy then put himself one step from the final at 5-3 but found himself in a jam as Tom Hartley took the next three games to book a final place with a 6-5 win.

The final saw the roles reversed for Tom as he took an early 3-1 lead which was clawed back by Derrick Wells to 3-3. Tom then extended to 5-3 and looked to be heading for home but Derrick had other ideas. Two blistering games brought them all square at 5-5 and the final match went to 40-40 before Derrick took the final point and became the deserved winner.

It was a keenly fought tournament with 7 of the 15 matches being decided by the smallest of margins of 6-5 and most of those saw match point contested at 5-all, 40-all, with a chase thrown in as well to keep the crowd entertained.
